It is very important for employers to take proper steps to ensure that their employees are not subjected to sexual harassment in the workplace. Sexual harassment can cause a considerable amount of harm to employees. No employee should have to face such harassment at their place of work.
Recently, a workplace sexual harassment case has arisen in Illinois. The case involves 19 women who worked at a sports bar in Chicago. The women allege that they were subjected to sexual harassment during their time with the sports bar. Specifically, the women claim that a manager at the sports bar engaged in sexually harassing conduct towards them, such as touching them inappropriately and making inappropriate sexual comments to them.
The women further allege that workers who complained about the alleged harassment were retaliated against. The alleged retaliation reportedly included things such as being given poor work assignments and being denied promotions.
According to the article on the Daily Herald's website which reported this story, the women have brought a sexual harassment lawsuit in a federal court against the sports bar in connection to these allegations. One wonders what will happen in this case and how it will ultimately be resolved.
Employees can suffer great harm when they are subjected to workplace sexual harassment like that alleged in this case. Thus, one hopes that all employers make sure to not engage in sexual harassment against their employees. One also hopes that all employers take proper steps to protect their employees from such harassment.
